Ijevan is a resort town located in the northern part of Armenia. Ijevan mountain range extends not far from the city. Hills with dense green forests are very similar to alpine meadows. The mild climate promotes excellent rest throughout the year, so the flow of tourists here never stops.
The city is located in the valley of the river Agstev, on the banks of which many health centers have been built. Thanks to numerous healing springs, Ijevan attracts tourists from all over the Caucasus. Sanatorium, rest homes, balneological centers conduct prevention and treatment of respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases.
In the past, very often during the spring floods the river Agstev came out of the banks and caused very damaging damage to the city. The greatest harm was done in 1931, when a huge flow of water swept away everything in its path. Now the local authorities are doing everything to prevent these water disasters.
